This technique is similar to flat round peyote. It grows from the centre outwards, with each row spiralling around a starting strip of peyote. The longer you make the starting strip - the narrower the rectangle. Increases are made in each corner, at regular intervals to form a flat rectangle. A peyote rectangle can be used as the base of a mini handbag, basket or box. You can make two and sew them together for an amulet bag. I made one as a rug for a dolls house. Instructions include a pattern for a little woven basket.
Samples - 5cm long. Basket - 3cm long, 2cm wide.
